NETBUS TROJAN HORSE ~ REMOTE CONTROL SYSTEM INSTALLED ON ONES COMPUTER BY ANOTHER MALICIOUSLY USED TO TERRORIZE AND ACCESS VALUABLE INFORMATION.
NetBus is a trojan horse installed on ones computer (without their knowledge) to control ALL aspects of the computer. Audio,(allows them to "bug" the room the computer is in) visual ,file sharing, bluetooth, etc. is easily installed without the victims knowledge (Bluetooth enables the criminal to listen in on private telephone calls as well as cell phones)
MAC USERS! LISTEN UP! YOU ARE NOT IMMUNE!
NetBus has had serious consequences. In 1999, NetBus was used to plant child pornography on the work computer of Magnus Eriksson, a law scholar at Lund University. 3,500 images were discovered by system administrators, and Eriksson was assumed to have downloaded them knowingly. Eriksson lost his research position at the faculty, and following the publication of his name fled the country and had to seek professional medical care to cope with the stress. He was acquitted from criminal charges in late 2004, as a court found that NetBus had been installed on his computer.
* Keystroke logging (Keylogger)
* Keystroke injection (Remote access/Control of the Keyboard)
* Screen captures (They get an IMAGE of the Websites the victim is looking at which allows them to watch as a person types in passwords etc.)
* Program launching (Installing hardware,viruses,audio,programs etc.)
* File browsing (looking through personal files,photos,contracts, business,dealings,E-mails etc.
* Shutting down the system (crash the victims computer)
* Opening / closing CD-tray (why they do THIS is beyond me-but then again I will never understand the mentality of the losers that are so insecure they would need to do this to spy and weasel around another person)
* Tunneling NetBus connections through a number of systems (ie MAC and all firewalls are suseptable)
*Screen Dumps (This allows them to ACTUALLY LOOK at the image YOu are looking at-therefore able to watch as you type in pass words ect.)
*Browser redirection~ (ALWAYS use your search box as apposed to your browser)
Especially vulnerable systems are...
* Windows 95
* Windows 98
* Windows ME
* Windows NT 4.0
MAC users-
NETBUS is used on MACINTOSH based systems by way of (just to name a few)....
1. Tunneling
2. Installing a Windows based sytem to download the EXE file on a MAC
3. Bootcamp
4. Bootstrap
5. MAC ROMAN encoding (extra tricky-but this was on my MAC) look in your files
6. Embedding Images and files-In my case they embedded my images I had in PUBLIC image hosting places on the internet as well as mp3 files and my video's.
Released in February 1999. It was marketed commercially as a powerful remote administration tool. Specially hacked versions exist that make it possible to use it for illegal purposes.
The program is widely used by "script kiddies" and was popularized by the release of Back Orifice.
WHAT TO DO
COMPLETE "SYSTEM RECOVERY"
Usually works on all PC's-but do NOTHING less! & remember to back-up all files!
Because my home was broken into and actual physical access was gained I had to reformat my MAC to get the Windows based system that had been installed by these losers on it off.
However it has done permanent damage to the hard Drive.
Keep in mind that installing this or other systems like it on a computer IS a Fedral OFFENSE.
It is considered TERRORISM punishable by Federal Law.
Part 1-MY STORY-
The sickest part about this particular Trojan is that it is commonly used to make the victim appear insane dillusional and/or psychotic. For the sheer joy of watching someone go insane. (college kids call it "gaslamping") or if it is used in a corporate, business or criminal sense to make the victim appear paranoid beyond good judgment and therefore unfit to deal with their own affairs. The worst is to be totally dismissed as a person. I have never been paranoid in my life nor have I ever been committed to a mental hospital or institution so why it was so hard for my husband to believe me when I told him some of the things that were happening to me was beyond me. I was completely shocked the first time i saw the look of disbelief on someones face (someone I was very close to) and I saw them get that (now all too familiar ) look that clearly say's "oh she'e CRAZY" ....because alot of what they would do WAS so very subtle.
Just to name a few things that were done to me...
* Flashes of images as I went from page to page on the internet (ie Devil, Text "I hate you")
* Writing E-mail and having the keyboard disabled or encoded so all the letters came out encoded ect.)
*Audio was installed on my laptop so they could hear what I was saying in that room and when I would call out to my husband for help SUDDENLY my computer would behave PERFECTLY making it seem like I was "imagining" the things that were going wrong. (I started recording myself on video whenever I worked on the internet-and this was the only thing that saved me-because there I had PROOF on CAMERA what was happening to me was REAL)
*Because this "Netbus" program allows full remote control access (think-when you call up tech support for PC help & they can gain access to help you if you are not the most computer savvy person-like ME-Unbeknown to my knowledge E-mails were being sent from MY E-mail account to everyone on my contact list masquerading as ME that made it appear as though I were losing my mind.
Basically it is a cowardly bullies tactic.
"Because even in a war you are allowed a weapon"
But what weapon do you choose when you DO NOT EVEN KNOW YOU ARE AT WAR?"

At present I am preparing legal documents and confering with a slew of attorney's (as different counsel is needed for all aspects- business,personal ect...) I am currently working on an intensive blog about the subject-my personal experience and how to deal with it best.
